Are you familiar with this? 1958 - 46 acres of buildings were razed and replaced with residential high-rise appartments, displacing aproximately 2700 families, mostly immigrants. The grief of those displaced was well documented and studied. It's just awful. We do this over and over again. People with money win.
Yes, the pattern of displacement of the poor in the name of shiny new development seems to built into our country's DNA...and its laws. I highly recommend that documentary, though, despite your nausea!
