Because, gosh, that extra $300 / week caused the unemployed to get so comfortable they refused to go out to look for work, the pandemic be damned.

Yes I've known about corporate welfare for awhile.....there are many facets to it. Giving away our public lands for gas/oil drilling, letting cattle / sheep ranchers graze on public lands for pennies on the dollar and being able to shoot predators on said public lands if they happen to prey on their cattle and sheep. The idea of tax incentives and breaks to lure corporations to set up in a specific city or town is ludicrous and literally turns into a bidding war.

The system is rigged in favor of the rich while the poor are begrudgingly given meager handouts.....

Certainly agreed that there are many facets to "corporate welfare" and/or "socialism for the rich and hard-scrabble capitalism for everyone else". I was truly surprised (in a good way) that the State of Ohio demanded and received at least part of their incentive money back. But the hypocrisy of handing out $60 million to GM and then sending back the $300/week federal benefits targeted to help the unemployed for just two more months...and then using taxpayer dollars aplenty to fight the lawsuit to the highest level in Ohio. Crazy!
