First, Joan, any friend of Rocky's and Bullwinkle's is a friend of mine.
But "an insurrection?" This bore more psychological resemblance to a sports fans' riot than to an insurrection. An insurrection is planned, step by step: "We start by doing this then, but what is our plan if they do that? What are our backups? And we need a backup for each backup, plus a workaround that whole matter, if absolutely necessary, etc., etc.
Then, for our second move..."
What Trump did was emblematic of his Presidency. It was impulsive, childish; energized by rage and bitterness, paranoia and conspiracy thinking; and it was sociopathic.
I didn't vote for the man. He should be imprisoned. But is he an insurrectionist? No, that takes serious people, and Trump is not a serious man.
Ha! Yes, I'm a friend of "Moose and Squirrel" for sure, Bobby. And thanks for commenting.
It looks like the Jan. 6 Committee is on its way to proving that the former president was a part of a conspiracy to lead or incite an insurrection. It was planned (at least to a certain extent) even before the election. What I thought was interesting and what I didn't know before the hearings (thanks to that filmmaker who had access to the Proud Boys), was that their group of over 200 people just bypassed the elipse where Trump was speaking and went straight to the Capital and checked out the security, etc.
I totally agree that what Trump did was "emblematic of his presidency..." as you so elegantly stated. But I believe he took it a few steps beyond the childish and spiteful. We will see...
Well, that is interesting, and I say, rack 'em all up, whoever broke the law, and try them and send them to prison.
But just 200? Didn't The Beer Hall Putsch have far greater numbers, in a Munich of one hundred years ago, a place where such an attempted takeover might have succeeded, but didn't? And monster though he was, Hitler was much more rational than Trump, and cannot be charged with lack of seriousness of purpose.
I wish these hearings were about the anti - monopoly legislation which has been introduced.
Maybe Trump isn’t smart enough to plan ahead but it is very very clear that many who descended on the capital on Jan 6 did indeed think ahead. People around Trump thought ahead. This was very much an insurrection. You must have missed the first night of the hearings when all the planning done by the proud boys and oath keepers was covered in detail. For that matter, you may be missing all of the hearings. The evidence is clear: this was a planned attack on our democracy from multiple angles and for almost 2 months leading up to Jan 6th. You can choose to view it however you like, but the evidence is there.
Thanks for lending your voice here, Jan. I think the Committee is presenting excellent evidence. Their witnesses are all under oath and are almost exclusively Republicans. I also generally have faith in trained journalists, and their fact checkers and editors to use as reliable sources to back up one's opinions. Not that the journalists are 100% correct, 100% of the time, but the odds are way in their favor.
By that standard, the motorcycle rallies, which with thousands of bikers meeting up in some desert town often ended in a riot with half a dozen or more people dead, were severe threats to the order of the nation.
They weren't, of course, they were exceptional events which local government had to call out the state police and sometimes the National Guard to quell. But they didn't augur violence from coast to coast.
Proud Boys? Oath Keepers? This reminds me of Gov. Earl Long's magnificent putdown of Leander Perez, the arch segregationist ( and eventual excommunicated Catholic ) boss of Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana: "What cha gonna do, Leander? The Feds have got the atom bum ( Louisiana pronunciation )."
You read me well, Jan. I don't take the thing seriously. Trump is a visionless narcissist, and a demagogue who proved not to have the slightest talent for governance, let alone insurrection. Didn't you see my assertion that he should be imprisoned? He did encourage a riot on Capitol Hill. We have federal penitentiaries for guys like that. Only magical thinking in him could have led him to believe he was touching off an insurrection, and Trump is too cynical to buy into magical thinking.
He did it because he's like other sociopaths. In the now famous formulation, some men just want to watch the world burn.
I don't believe the Left's acted out horror and fear of imminent dictatorship is anything more than politics.
Well, The Council on Foreign Relations would be proud of your post.
However, judging from CNN’s recent collapse of viewership, and the clarity that The Washington Post is merely the mouthpiece of the US State Department, our 3-letter Agencies, PhARMA, and The Pentagon, I see little here other than more propaganda that was legalized when President Obama signed into law the revised Smith-Mundt Modernization Act of 2012.
Trump Won. The Election was Stolen via the CIA’s expertise in Color Revolutions around the world. And the people running this country are creating one massive cluster-F after another to divert our attention from the up-coming biggest Cluster-F they are slowly releasing on us. The planned destruction of our constitution, cash, and freedom, also known as, The Great Reset.
I have provided evidence that the military/security complex, using the media and the Democrats, intends to turn the November election into a color revolution—
Interesting comment for sure. Even though I consider myself a "wild-eyed" liberal, I do take a slightly more "conservative" and perhaps optimistic approach to our government and most (but not all) of the information it puts out. But to me, it's not just overwhelming evidence that Biden won, there is simply no evidence at all that Trump won the 2020 election. Even Rudy said in a phone conversation with the Justice Department that "they had a lot of 'theories', but no evidence.
Joe Biden: “How I Learned To Love The New World Order”

Congratulations, America! The media that declares the winners of your (s)elections have reported that the voting machines that decide the winner of your (s)elections have (s)elected Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. to become the 46th President of the good ol' US of A in January!
And in a longstanding tradition befitting the nation that stands as the Beacon of Democracy and Leader of the Free World™, we know that the loyal slaves subjects citizens of the United States will dust themselves off, shake hands, compliment each other on a good contest and go back to business as usual, right?
No, of course not. Things are not going back to business as usual. They aren't meant to. That's the point.
Instead, we're about to get:
A protracted legal battle over the integrity of the election.
Literal blacklists that will be used to financially boycott and socially ostracize ex-Trump staffers and campaign workers (and, inevitably, supporters).
The continuation of Trump's Operation Warp Speed and a new push to put the country in Lock Step with the Great Reset agenda in order to survive The Darkest Winter.
No, today's pronouncement (which, lest we forget, will be challenged) is not the end of anything. It's just the beginning. And it does not present a path out of chaos. On the contrary. This path leads straight into the heart of chaos.
None of this is surprising. In fact, things are going exactly according to plan.
Confused? Don't be. I have a data dump of info for you.
“Statistically Impossible” That 19 of 20 Bellweather Counties All Voted For Trump…and Biden Wins
Of the 19 bellwether counties that have consistently voted for the presidential winner since 1980, all but one chose Trump, the Journal found, PJ Media reported.
Seriously dude, get a grip, preferably on reality....Trump did not win the electoral college votes, he did not even win the popular vote when he unfortunately beat Hillary.
He is a whining psychopath used to getting his own way as a "business man." He is a truly horrible person only out for himself. It's a damn shame he was ever president giving us 4 plus years of total hell.
In his groundbreaking (and bestselling) 1988 book, The Shadows of Power, author and researcher James Perloff meticulously documents the origins, aims and influence of The Council on Foreign Relations and its members.
Today Perloff joins us to discuss the CFR, its acknowledged goal of preparing the American public for a new world order, and how it is working to accomplish that goal through the control of America's foreign policy apparatus.
Readers of this column will know all about the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) by now. The CFR's influence in setting Washington's foreign policy agenda was once derided as “conspiracy theory." But, as is often the case, that "conspiracy theory" is now a simple truism that is openly joked about by the conspirators themselves.
What you may not know, however, is that the CFR is in fact a branch of a slightly older, slightly less-known organization: the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House).
