We have been planning a western road trip for about a year now. Thankfully, when our car completely died last fall, we replaced it with a used 2021 Hyundai Kona (for just $14,500) that gets 36 mpg on the highway. Still... no longer sure we can do the trip. Or, not sure we can do that and still have me return to Sicily in the fall. Yes, I realize what a privilege that is. Even when it means getting the cheapest tickets that require 4 flights and 2 days of travel (ugh).

I just got back and am beyond shocked at the prices in our local stores. $3.50 for one yellow pepper!?? seriously?? $198 for just 4 bags of groceries?? (one bag alone was 4 boxes of cereal) I'm gobsmacked. My husband (retired w/ a small pension) is seriously thinking we'll need to get PT jobs. But then, everyone is thinking that, right? And where are the jobs?

I suppose it had to come to this for the cult followers to be shaken out of their blind allegiance. But are enough of them waking up to make a difference this fall?

I hope you and Tom get to go on your Western road trip!

And yes, prices are astronomical...for everything. It's actually scary to go to the grocery store. Not sure I see a way out for many years, even if the Dems sweep the midterms.

I believe you’re correct. And then republicans will act like it was the fault of the democrats. Amnesia is an epidemic in this country

Oh, yes. The blame game. We are in for a doozy of a summer and fall!

Unless you’re among the super rich, we all feel the pinch of higher costs. The situation won’t change much until we get rid of this corrupt administration that denies reality and denigrates expertise while lining its own pockets.

Thanks for your comment, Madaline. I certainly agree. It seems that Trump is handing the Dems an election win— they just have to run with it!
