Here in Columbus, Ohio I have a friend who works with Habitat For Humanity and she was recently telling me about some HFH programs nationwide that are partnering with CLTs as their goals and mutual needs seem closely aligned...I can't quote chapter and verse from our conversation but I believe it concerned a situation in a western state, Montana I believe...
Interesting and good news if HFH is collaborating with CLTs - makes good sense. What I tried to find out, to no avail, is whether either of the two bills involving infrastructure allocates funds directly to CLT’s municipal or private. There are funds allocated to affordable housing in the bills…
At a quick look I couldn't find any info on any possible funding of CLTs from the two bills...maybe you can contact Sinema or Manchin for the answer...:-)
I am very interested in this and am glad for the information. I need to understand more but it certainly seems like a model that could work anywhere there is the will to do it.
Thanks for the comment, Elizabeth, and so glad you are interested in this idea. I live in Ohio and I am working with the Yellow Springs land trust I mentioned. I am happy to provide more links for additional information, or speak with you if you’d like. You are right- it seems to work well where it is implemented. I also hope to write more on this issue!
