I've voted in every election since the mid 1980s, and I'll continue to vote out of some inertial force, even though I'm pretty sure that the people who own and run everything are beyond the reach of the population. Indeed the only way a population can affect its government is when there is a near-unanimity, and in the so-called democratic nations people are divided on everything pretty evenly. (And maybe that's a sign that things aren't that terrible?)

But yes, go vote. It's easy, and it may have a marginal effect. If the net result of an election is that it helps one person, that's worth the hour or so it takes.

Thanks for your comment, flipshod. I'm a bit more optimistic about voting than you seem to be, but I'm glad you voted! According to current tallies, most election deniers were not elected, particularly in governor's races, which to me is a win and restores my faith in those who vote. That's what I was most worried about this election cycle...
